Archives for the month of: June, 2012

We are very happy to have the opportunity to host Jennie Germann Molz and her family Martin and Elliot in the spring 2013 in the MTI, University of Lapland. This favourable period for academic collaboration will be provided for Jennie by the Fulbright program based on her research plan related to Acapella and other topics. She will also teach a course in tourism research and spar scientific writing in the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Writing and publishing in themes related to Acapella Village will be given a unique chance and impetus by a writing camp to be held in Keropirtti, Pyhätunturi, in February 18-March 3, 2013 – conveners: Jennie Germann Molz, Soile Veijola, Julian Reid & Petra Falin. More information about this coming up during the summer.

The Acapella initiative will be taken to new dimensions as Soile Veijola was given the opportunity by the Foundations’ Professors Pool (www.professoripooli.fi) to fully concentrate on this research idea between 1st of July 2012 and 30th of June 2013. She will tour researcher and artist residences and spend one month at Strathclyde University, Glasgow in November 2012 working with Paul Lynch and others initiating new collaboration.

Acapella Village explores culturally and ecologically sustainable architecture of tourist dwelling to build future practical, professional and theoretical know-how suitable for regional policy-making and commercial applications. The proposal features an extensive design, planning, business and construction program based on international and cross-disciplinary research, which will be carried out as multiple projects. The planning and initiation of the projects is enabled by the University of Lapland Strategic Funding (50.000 €) in 2011-2012.
